One of the hallmark seasons of The Simpsons, season 7 features some of the strongest episodes produced during the shows run. Considering that this is The Simpsons were talking about here, thats saying a lot, but this collection deserves the accolades.
Broadcast in 1995, season seven features several signature episodes, including Part II of "Who Shot Mr. Burns," "Bart Sells His Soul," and "Two Bad Neighbors" where former President George Herbert Walker Bush moves into the neighborhood (an episode gamely playing on the former Presidents open dislike for the show). One of The Simpsonss most definitive episodes, "Treehouse of Horror VI" famously broke the third wall by using the then-groundbreaking CGI technology to render Homer first in a 3-D world, then in real life, (despite the evolution in his form, he naturally ends up in an erotic cake shop). As the producers openly note on the commentary, it was a big deal at the time, and super expensive, which is why they could only do a few minutes of footage in CGI (some fans will particularly enjoy the revealing commentary on this one, as the producers explain the many visual puns and math jokes appearing in the background of the 3-D world). Its a great example of how The Simpsons continued to play with its visual style and take creative risks years into its run. In fact, one of the best episodes on this collection, "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular" proves just how far the look and style of the show really came during that time. Hosted by actor Troy McClure (voiced by the late comic great Phil Hartman), it presents never-before-seen outtakes and original footage from the shows debut days on The Tracey Ullman Show, while taking a few self-referential digs at show creators Matt Groening, James Brooks, and Sam Simon. Other gems include "Homerpalooza" where Homer thanks guests The Smashing Pumpkins for their gloomy music because it has made his kids "stop wishing for a future I cant possibly provide," and "Bart the Fink" where Bart inadvertently gets Krusty the Klown busted for tax "avoision."
Along with the 25 episodes there are extensive commentaries, featurettes, and deleted scenes all of which add immense value to the set and will give die-hard fans another excuse to spend more hours in front of the TV. Its another benchmark collection from a show that, up to this point, doesnt seem to know its own limits. --Dan Vancini
Description
The entire seventh season of this smash hit is available packaged in a mold the shape of Marge Simpson's head. This is the next in a line of collectible molded character packages that began with Homer Simpson in Season 6. Season 7 includes the famous "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" episode and Tree House of Horror VI.

Another wonderful season! July 7, 2006
Again, this release fails to receive 5 stars based only on the packaging. When reviewing a product, content and container count equally! Especially in the case of this season, for which the more "traditional" packaging is available. I recommend that you go that route instead of this "collector" Marge head packaging.
As for the episodes themselves, the laughter continues right where it left off in Season 6. Many were disappointed in the unveiling of the culprit in Who Shot Mr. Burns, part 2. I, however, thought the episode was brilliant up to that point, and with the extra features giving you insight into the hundreds of subtleties pointing to the shooter (who shall remain unnamed in this review), it justifies the disappointing ending to the episode.
Other episodes I recommend are: Radioactive Man, Lisa the Vegetarian, Treehouse of Horror VI, Mother Simpson, Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming, Marge Be Not Proud, Team Homer, Two Bad Neighbors, Homer the Smithers, Short Films About Springfield, Homerpalooza. Without going into much detail about each one (you can probably check other reviews for full episode descriptions), suffice to say that each of these episodes is either packed with hilarity that will have you watching them repeatedly, or such a unique concept (Short Films and Two Bad Neighbors in particular) that they make this a more-than-enjoyable season to add to your collection.
Again, the special features include episode commentaries on each episode, as well as a few other featurettes. Some of them are well worth your time, others are just novelties that Simpsons creators insist on including for the extreme-diehard fans. If you do not own this season yet, do yourself a favour and go buy it! It's worth every penny, especially if you avoid the Marge head packaging!
Awesome DVD!!! June 14, 2006

Some classic episodes May 19, 2006

My favorite episode is when Homer gains 65 pounds so that he can work at home in King size homer. The other episodes that are really good are Lisa the vegetarian and Homer the smithers. The rest of the episodes range from being generic to pretty good. This is not my favorite season and I also had problems with the discs freezing and skipping. I exchanged several times at the store I bought it from and it still has problems which is why I gave this three stars - and these episodes are not as funny as in the past.
