5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Movie!!!   December 28, 2002

The physicians of Sir Charley Ho Hospital are notorious slackers. Patients die, patients are misplaced, and doctors seem more interested in gambling and gossip than in saving lives! When a young female M.D. (Yan), who was a former patient starts working at SCH Hospital, she hopes to meet the doctor who once performed surgery on her. She has vowed if she can find the doctor who once told her "It's not easy being a doctor" she will marry him. Trouble is, there are two doctors Joe and Jim, and neither remember which one said it!

Thus begins a series of madcap adventures as Jim, Joe and Yan set about to reform the hospital staff to the best of their ability...Or die trying.

Okay... I really have to tell you folks, I loved Help!!! I'm a big fan of Chinese Drama and Help!!! is chock full of funny scenes, amusing situations and a really cute cast of characters. Ekin Cheng (Joe) is my number one favorite actor and he is suave debonair and charming in this film! This is a great film the entire family will enjoy. If you are a fan of romantic comedy, you will love this film!

I apologize for being so crude and crass but it disturbs me to no end that a talentless, cheesy, insufferable bore such as the aforementioned cranks out comedic drek with what seems like every month and a highly entertaining, subversive, intelligent comedy such as Help(USA title) languishes in obscurity. This production is far superior to anything she has done and i would say it is one of the most hilarious and entertaining comedies i've seen in some time. It's sad that some people will pass on a gem such as this because it boasts an all asian cast and it's subtitled. To those i say, you're missing out on a fun ride, this film never lets up for it's entire running time,it's one crazy situation after another,i was in stitches. It's about a group of doctors who work in an ER at a very busy hospital in HK.The senior members of the staff are cynical and lazy and this causes 2 bright young doctors to quit. When a fresh faced young female MD joins the staff she convinces them to once again work in the ER in an attempt to change and improve the reputation of the hospital and inspire the senior members to take their job seriously. What happens after that is a series of subversive situations(death and critical injury is used for comedic effect),that had my ribs aching. The cast is stellar, and even the residual characters get a chance to shine in this laughfest. As with most HK import DVD's there are scant extras(filmographies, talent bios,a couple of trailers),it's a bare bones effort, but the sound and picture quality is excellent, definitely above average and surprisingly the sound is an integral part of this film.If you don't mind reading subtitles and have been exposed to HK comedy in the past i highly recommend this gem.Even if you haven't,i'm sure you can relate to the predicaments that these characters find themselves in,it's a universal comedy and the director is proving to be a world class talent.
